The Harrogate & District Allotment Federation brings together members of 16 allotment sites from Harrogate, Ripon and Knaresborough, to share information and expertise on gardening and to share good practice in managing the allotment sites.
The Federation is run by a voluntary committee of representatives from the sites, with the three officers- Chair, Secretary and Treasurer- being elected each year at the AGM.
Our annual show, held in August in the Sun Pavilion in the Valley Gardens, Harrogate allows plot holders to exhibit their best produce – vegetables, fruit, flowers and baking. Each year, profits from the Show are donated to a local charity to support their gardening projects.
In recent years, donations have been made to Henshaws Arts & Crafts Centre, Harrogate Easier Living Project, Open Country, Orb and Ripon Walled Garden.
August 2021 will see us celebrating our Diamond Jubilee Show. The 2021 charity will be Ripon Museums Trust.
Our Annual General Meeting in January and the annual meeting of Site Chairs in March provide opportunities to discuss current issues and matters relating to the management of the sites e.g. insurance, health & safety, waiting lists etc.
